Andrew Johnson

Andrew has worked in family law since 2012, most recently at a large national commercial firm. He has intimate experience and knowledge in complex parenting matters (including relocation and recovery orders, and issues of family violence), complex/high value property settlement matters and child support issues, including child support departure orders, departure prohibition orders and objections to decisions of the child support agency.

Andrew often appears in the Family Court of Australia, Federal Circuit Court of Australia, and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He works with pre-eminent Counsel and Senior Counsel of leading family law barristers’ chambers, and has strong relationships with valuers, accountants and psychologists to deal with all issues facing his clients.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (International Business) with Distinction from the University of Wollongong. He also completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University.

Christopher Palumbo

Senior Associate

Christopher has expertise in advising clients on a wide range of issues arising from the breakdown of family relationships. Principally, Christopher’s expertise includes advising on complex/high value property settlement matters. Christopher also has experience in complex parenting matters and advising in relation to Child Support.

Christopher has worked exclusively in family law since 2013 and most recently as a Senior Associate at a large national commercial firm. Christopher has assisted clients with matters dealing with divorce, property division and parenting disputes arising from the breakdown of marital and de facto relationships.

Christopher is passionate about the family law jurisdiction. Christopher regularly appears for clients in the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. He works with leading family law barristers and has developed strong relationships with valuers, accountants, and psychologists alike to assist clients to navigate the family law system. Christopher takes a pragmatic approach to the resolution of family law disputes and works hard to achieve the best outcomes possible for clients.

Christopher was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in December 2014. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Advanced Business Leadership) with a Sub-Major in Accounting.

Christopher is a Member of the New South Wales Law Society, a Member of the New South Wales Young Lawyers Family Law Committee and a Member of the Family Law Section.

Julie Cheung

Julie is dedicated to providing high quality legal services and is passionate about supporting clients in all areas of family law. Having worked as the Associate and Deputy Associate to a Family Law Judge in the Federal Circuit Court for two years, Julie has invaluable insights into how to navigate the Court process. Her extensive knowledge of Court procedures and her sound understanding of judicial discretion come from her integral involvement in contested divorces, high conflict parenting, complex property and other jurisdictional matters. Clients benefit from Julie’s advice on what to expect from Court proceedings which puts them in a better position to make informed decisions about their family law disputes.

Julie graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2017 with a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts with distinction and a philosophy major.

Lauren Sanderson

LLB (Western Sydney University)
B.Com (University of Technology Sydney)


Lauren graduated from Western Sydney University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Law. Lauren also holds a Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) from the University of Technology Sydney. Lauren has a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and has been admitted as a solicitor in NSW, as well as being admitted to the High Court roll of practitioners.

Lauren has worked as an Associate to a Family Law Judge and General Federal Law Judge in the Federal Circuit Court. Prior to working as an Associate, Lauren gained experience as a client officer at the National Enquiry Centre, assisting family law litigants to navigate Court procedure. As a result of her previous experience, Lauren has developed an extensive knowledge of Court practice and procedure. This sound understanding of Court procedure informs Lauren’s practical approach to family law disputes.

Prior to joining Dorter Family Lawyers, Lauren worked as a solicitor in a national commercial law firm in Sydney. During this time Lauren worked in Government litigation and regularly appeared in the Federal Circuit Court. Lauren’s experience in a commercial firm has helped her to develop a strategic and pragmatic approach to family law matters.

Lauren also volunteers at Marrickville Legal Centre as an evening solicitor, providing advice in relation to parenting and property matters.

Maeve Cooper

BA (Counsell) LLB

Maeve was admitted with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Counselling from the University of Notre Dame. Maeve’s communication skills and ability to multi task are her core strengths.

Her experience in counselling and working with children as a swimming teacher means that she is well placed to deal with the complexities involved in supporting clients with their family law matters.

Antonia Cacopardo



Antonia Cacopardo joined Dorter Family Lawyers and Mediators in 2021 having worked exclusively in family law since 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Criminology and has also completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. Antonia was admitted as a solicitor in 2018.

Antonia has gained broad experience across financial and parenting matters including property settlements, complex parenting matters, spouse maintenance and child support. She also volunteers at Marrickville Legal Centre providing assistance in property and parenting matters.

Antonia’s empathic approach to the sensitive issues that arise in family law together with her social science background provide her with a unique perspective and ability to put clients at ease while providing quality advice and representation.

Brittany Meehan



Brittany is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and to the High Court of Australia. Brittany graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Laws, majoring in Social Justice.

Brittany has worked exclusively in family law since 2016. Brittany’s interest in family law saw her initially commence a position as a Client Services Officer for the Family Court of Australia, giving her invaluable insight into the Family Court processes. Prior to joining Dorter Family Lawyers and Mediators, Brittany worked in a boutique family law firm in Sydney.

Brittany has a broad range of experience in all areas of Family Law, including property settlements, child support, spouse maintenance and parenting proceedings with allegations of family violence.

Brittany is empathetic, diligent, and focused on meeting her client’s objectives. Brittany is a passionate lawyer with long-term aspirations in family law.

Tim Russell

Dip Law (LPAB)

Tim’s passion for family law comes about as a direct result of his own personal experience in a family law matter. His aim is to help those who find themselves in a similar situation through his first hand understanding of the difficulties that often arise for clients  as they navigate the family law process.   Clients value Tim’s empathy and ability to relate to their situation and offer a clear plan to move forward.

Tim joins the Dorter Family Lawyers team with over two decades of experience in the commercial business environment and clients benefit from Tim’s keen commercial understanding.

Tim was a professional Rugby League player with the Eastern Suburbs Roosters and the Widnes Vikings (UK) in the early 90s.

Emily Stone

Emily is currently completing a Diploma of Law, a course administered by the Legal Professional Admission Board.

Emily is experienced in providing effective, empathetic, and efficient support with family law matters. Her passion for working in family law is reflected in her thorough and collaborative approach to supporting our clients through what is often a turbulent period in their lives.

Matthew Pellegriti


Matthew is currently completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business degree at Macquarie University. Matthew has a long-standing passion for family law and in collaboration with his colleagues, is committed to helping clients navigate through an extremely difficult and stressful time in their lives.

Matthew’s ability to empathise with clients, combined with his attention to detail and strong work ethic, makes him an integral member of our team.


Christine D’Aguiar

Executive Assistant

Christine is the Personal Assistant to Rebekah Dorter and Christopher Palumbo and is the first point of contact for clients with queries when they are out of the office.

Christine has a strong administration background with 19 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary and one year as a Practice Manager.  Christine is empathic and has a sound knowledge of family law, having worked in family law for over 17 years.

With many years’ experience, Megan has a broad knowledge of working in law and enjoys the ‘cut and thrust’.
